About Assistive Technology for Visually Impaired Course
Throw the Assistive Technology for Visually Impaired Course, you will learn about the importance of the sense of sight, what is visual impairment, and categories of the visually impaired. you will also learn about Braille and some of the tools used to read and write in Braille. you will also review some types of assistive technology for people with visual impairments. you will also do some practical applications on computer use for the visually impaired.
Course Goals:
By the end of this course, you will be able to learn about:
• The importance of the sense of sight.
• What is a visual impairment.
• Categories of the visually impaired.
• Different definitions of the visually impaired.
• Braille and its history: which is like a night writing system that enables the blind to read. The letters are written in prominent symbols on paper, allowing the blind to read thanks to their sense of touch. Thus, blind students can read and write like other ordinary people, even if the method is different.
• Alphabets of Arabic, English and numbers in Braille.
• Some tools used in writing such as:
* Perkins typewriter: It is a typewriter that works in Braille and was developed at the Perkins Institute for the Blind and has many advantages, for example, maintaining the integrity of the prominent points compared to the method of writing with the board or ruler and the pen, as well as the element of safety as the pen may affect the child's eye and the error can be corrected easily and easily without removing the paper.
* German typewriter.
• Different types of assistive technology for people with visual impairments.
• The importance of assistive technology for the visually impaired.
• Some practical applications on computer use for people with visual impairments, such as:
* Narrator the screen reader.
* NVDA the screen reader.
* Read aloud option.
* Alternative text option.
• Some mobile applications for people with visual impairments such as:
* Be My Eyes.

• Creative expert teacher from Microsoft for four years.
• Teacher for the blind and visually impaired since 1998 until now, and I have taught many students who obtained the first Republican position in the General Secondary School for the Blind.
• Member of the Board of Directors of the Sandoub Association for People with Special Needs and a volunteer member in several NGOs to serve persons with disabilities.

في هذا الكورس سوف نتعرف على أهمية حاسة البصر وماهية الإعاقة البصرية وفئات المعاقين بصرياً. كما سنتعرف أيضاً على طريقة برايل وبعض الأدوات المستخدمة في القراءة والكتابة بطريقة برايل. وأيضاً سوف نستعرض بعض أنواع التكنولوجيا المساندة للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة البصرية. كما سنقوم ببعض التطبيقات العملية على استخدام الكمبيوتر لذوي الإعاقة البصرية.
أهداف الدورة:
بنهاية هذا الكورس سوف تكون قادر على أن تتعرف على:
• أهمية حاسة البصر.
• ماهية الإعاقة البصرية.
• فئات المعاقين بصرياً.
• التعريفات المختلفة للمعاقين بصرياً.
• طريقة برايل وتاريخها: والتي تعد كنظام كتابة ليلية ألف بائية، تمكن المكفوفين من القراءة. حيث تُكتب الحروف رموزاً بارزة على الورق مما يسمح للمكفوفين بالقراءة بفضل حاسة اللمس. وبذلك صار الطلاب المكفوفون قادرين على القراءة والكتابة كغيرهم من الأشخاص العاديين وإن اختلفت الطريقة.
• الحروف الهجائية للغة العربية واللغة الإنجليزية والأرقام بطريقة برايل.
• بعض الأدوات المستخدمة في الكتابة مثل:
* الآلة الكاتبة بيركنز: هي آلة كاتبة تعمل بطريقة برايل وقد تم تطويرها في معهد بيركنز للمكفوفين ولها العديد من المميزات على سبيل المثال منها المحافظة على سلامة النقاط البارزة بالمقارنة بطريقة الكتابة باللوحة أو المسطرة والقلم كما يتوفر بها عنصر الامان حيث أن القلم قد يصيب عين الطفل كما يمكن تصحيح الخطأ بسهولة ويسر بدون نزع الورقة.
* الآلة الكاتبة الألمانية.
• الأنواع المختلفة من التكنولوجيا المساندة للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة البصرية.
• أهمية التكنولوجيا المساندة للمعاقين بصريا.
• بعض تطبيقات عملية على استخدام الكمبيوتر للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة البصرية مثل:
* Narrator the screen reader.
* NVDA the screen reader.

* Alternative text option.
• بعض تطبيقات الموبايل للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة البصرية مثل:

• عضو مجلس إدارة بجمعية سندوب لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة وعضو متطوع في عدد من الجمعيات الأهلية لخدمة الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة.
